5 Movies with Unbelievable Scenes about Trademarks and Intellectual Property

Before I get into my list, here's a quick disclaimer: I don't own the rights to these five movies. I'm only showing them for educational purposes and for illustration purposes, really. If you like those movies as I do, or if you haven’t seen them before, get the whole thing, make yourself some popcorn, and watch them. They're amazing movies.

Each of these scenes from TV and movies shows a different situation that relates to trademarks and intellectual property. They are some of my favorite scenes on the subject in Hollywood. I hope you enjoy them.

#5 - Silicon Valley

Number five on my list is Silicon Valley. This is the scene you never want to find yourself in. This is when you realize you have to go to court and lawyer up to protect your intellectual property. This scene comedically points out all the obstacles you might face when you need to go to court to protect your IP.

#4 The Social Network

Number four on my list is Social Network.. Really, this scene shows the value of IP and the dangers of trademarking with a partner. It also shows that worse fights always come as a result of best friendships and it also shows how important it is to properly document everything around who came up with what first and what the mutual expectations are.

#3 The People Versus Larry Flynt

Number three in my list is The People Versus Larry Flynt. I don't want to spoil this for you. Let me just say that it's a scene where Larry came up with an unconventional way of dealing with allegations of defamation and libel made against him. This is an amusing scene that shows the power trademark rights can have.

#2 Flash of Genius

Number two on my list is Flash of Genius. The whole movie is brilliant, and actually, this entire movie is about intellectual property. 

The scenes that I picked, and what you're gonna see are a few scenes merged into one, show that intellectual property is not just about the money, and it shows you how much people suffer when they see what they've poured their heart and soul into being stolen by others. 

Hopefully, no one ever has to find themselves in a situation like this, by securing all the trademarks they need and deserve.

At the top of the list is The Founder. The really powerful scene shows how important the brand is and also how important it is to properly protect the brand. If you have ever wondered why it’s important to trademark your brand, watch this scene. It shows you everything you need to know.
